Best of City Lights
26th February 2019
City Lights bookstore started its publishing wing in 1955 and immediately began releasing some of the most daring works coming out of the burgeoning Beat movement, including Allen Ginsberg’s Howl & Other Poems. The Pocket Poets series has gone on to publish other classics, such as ones by Frank O’Hara, Jack Kerouac and Julio Cortázar. In its 64 years of publishing, City Lights has never waned in its commitment to revolution, producing a trove of nonfiction titles on social justice and grassroots activism, while continuing to cultivate poetry and fiction from the counterculture. City Lights, we salute you.
