After the death of her wife, the elusive avant-garde artist X, our narrator embarks on a course of discovery prompting her to question to what extent she (or indeed anyone) truly knew X. Interspersing fact and fiction, this novel wonderfully interrogates the thin line between reality and what we construct as reality as Lacey plays with fact and fiction.
