How do I place an order?
To purchase a book, you must sign up for an account or sign in to your existing account. When you see the book you want, click on Add To Cart. You will be prompted to enter the desired quantity, as well as to select from the customization options. When you have finished shopping, click the Cart button at the top-right corner of the web page. After reviewing the contents of your Cart, click the Checkout button.
When is my order confirmed?
Your order is confirmed as soon as it appears in your account under "Your orders". You will also receive a confirmation email containing your order number, and a summary of your products and payment.
How do I change what's in my cart?
You can adjust your order at any time before finalizing the payment. To delete an unwanted item, reduce the quantity to zero in the shopping cart or click on the cross button near the total line of the item you wish to remove. You can also add additional items by browsing on the website and clicking on the "Add to cart" button it will automatically go in your cart and recalculate the new fees to pay.
How do I change my billing or shipping information?
After clicking the Checkout button, you will be shown the contents of your purchase, along with your default billing and shipping information. To change either the billing or shipping information, click Proceed to Checkout. You will then be prompted to revise both the billing and shipping information, should you wish to do so.
Can I request multiple delivery addresses for a single order?
Currently, we are unable to accept multiple delivery addresses for a single purchase. Should you wish to have books mailed to multiple destinations, each destination must be entered as a separate order.
Can I send my order to a PO box?
Unfortunately, we have had many issues in the past while sending customers'orders to PO boxes. As a consequence, no delivery to postal boxes will be allowed.
Can I adjust my order after finalizing the purchase?
No, unfortunately. Please carefully review your purchase before approving the final payment information. We, at the shop, are unable to amend or cancel an order after the payment information has been entered and finalized by a customer.
Can I cancel my order?
Unfortunately, no. For multiple reasons on our end, we’re unable to cancel orders after receiving the payment confirmation. Please carefully review your purchase before approving the final payment.
I can't find my country to get delivered?
If you can't find your country, it means that Shakespeare and Company isn't currently available in your part of the world. We are working on expanding to more countries but it takes time... Thank you for your understanding.
Where can I find my order history?
You can find all your previous purchases from your 'Account' page, where your can see your order history by clicking 'Orders'.
What is a working day?
A working day is Monday through Friday.
Shipping
Delivery options & deadlines ?
We propose 4 delivery options :
- Click & Collect in store : average delivery between 1-5 working days (we don't work on week-ends or on public holidays)
- International shipping (excluding France) - tracked : average delivery between 4-5 working days (we don't work on week-ends or on public holidays)
- Colissimo with signature (France only) - your presence is required : average delivery between 4-5 working days (we don't work on week-ends or on public holidays)
- Mondial Relay (France only) - delivery to a pick-up station : average delivery between 4-7 working days (we don't work on week-ends or on public holidays)
⚠️ If your order contains a pre-order item please be aware that all your items will ship together at the pre-order release date, we cannot separate deliveries. ⚠️
How does Click & Collect work ?
If you select during your purchasing process, the Click & Collect delivery option, you will first receive a confirmation mail, that will indicate your order went through. Once your order is ready for pick-up your will receive a second mail that will notify you your order is ready for collection.
If there is a line to enter the bookshop when you arrive (as sometimes happens in busy periods), please show you "ready to collect" email to the person at the door and you will be allowed straight in to pick up your order. You can then go directly at our Click & Collect Counter, located at the back of the shop in the Kids 'section to retrieve it.
If an order is not collected within 30 days of the date of availability, the order will be canceled automatically. Gift vouchers will be kept for a year.
How much will shipping cost me?
If you wish to know how much shipping fees you will have to pay, you can simulate an order through our website checkout process. You'll need to create an account, add your articles, add your country and address of delivery and once you chose your shipping option, your shipping fees will be displayed.

Will my shipment be subject to a custom fee?
Unfortunately, we don't know which country are subjected to taxes, but we are aware that some of our customers are required to pay customs duties on certain items when they arrive in their home countries. Frustratingly for our customers, we also cannot add these costs to our website prices, as we are unaware of the actual amounts ourselves, due to their being applied in other countries rather than here in France when we ship orders. We apologize in advance for the inconvenience.
What if my order was not delivered or lost?
If you order was not delivered or lost, please contact our Customer Service by email at orders@shakespeareandcompany.com.
Our team will contact the carrier to initiate the necessary procedures.
What if my order has been returned to you?
If your order has been returned to us, we will contact you to let you know. We will also propose to re-ship your parcel that will be subject of additional shipping costs (they are not included in your initial payment). Alternatively, we can turn your package into a Pick Up order if you or one of your relatives are planning on visiting Paris and coming to the bookshop.
What is a working day ?
A working day is Monday through Friday.
Returns & Exchanges
How do I return my order ?
If after your package arrives, you change your mind or find that the item is defective, you have 30 days from the receipt of your order to return the item, in its original condition, to the address stated on the receipt, along with:
1. a copy of the original invoice,
2. a completed return form (a printable copy of which can be found Here), and
3. all packaging and accessories.
Please note: The return costs will be your responsibility. While the postage fee from the original order will be refunded, the customer is responsible for all costs incurred in returning the package to the bookstore in Paris. Also: We cannot accept refund or exchange requests for books for which the customer has selected from our customization options.
How long do I have to return my items ?
You have a period of 30 (thirty) days from receipt of your order to return an item that does not suit you.
How long will it take for my refund to be processed ?
Once we have received your return, your refund will take approximately 14 days to appear in your account to allow enough time for us to process the return.
You'll receive a confirmation email once the refund has been processed. The funds should appear in your account within the following 2/3 working days.
Can I group my returns together ?
Currently, we are still trying to find a better solution, so please don't send items from different orders back to us in the same parcel.
To keep the process as simple and as quick as possible, please ensure that you make separate return requests for each of your orders by contacting us on our orders@shakespeareandcompany.com email, and filling for each other the return form Here
Can I make an exchange?
We do exchanges on our website. If you'd like a different title or a new size, please submit a return request then return your item to us before placing a new order on our website. The shipping fees are the responsibility of the customer.
Can I return online an item purchased in the bookstore ?
Unfortunately, return requests for items bought in our Shakespeare and Company bookshop can't be submitted online. If you wish to return or exchange an article bough in store please contact info@shakespeareandcompany.com
Payments
What are the payment options ?
The website accepts credit card and debit card payments from most major banks worldwide. We accept Visa, MasterCard, and American Express. We are not able to accept payments by check for purchases made online.
Is my payment secured ?
The Shakespeare and Company payment page directs to an external and secure provider, ensuring that the customer’s bank details are encrypted and remain private. (You can confirm that the payment page is indeed secure by looking for a small icon of a lock in front of the website address in your browser.)
When will my account be debited ?
Your bank account will be debited as soon as your order has been confirmed. Your order is confirmed as soon as it appears on in your account section under 'Orders' and when you have received an email confirmation order.
Can I pay with an online gift voucher ?
Unfortunately, the paper gift voucher we sell at the shop can be redeemed only in-store at Shakespeare and Company, Paris. We’ll soon be introducing new gift certificates that will be redeemable both in-store and on our website. Thanks for your patience with this!
What is validity period of my gift voucher?
The gift voucher is valid for 12 months from the date of the purchase and cannot be refunded.
I would like an invoice, how do I do this ?
Your invoices are available in your Account/My orders space. Simply click on the relevant order to download and view them.

How do I log in?
To log in to your account, click on the account button on the top right hand-side of the homepage on your computer, or on the menu on your smartphone. Enter your email address and password then click confirm.
I can't log in to my account
If you’ve forgotten your username or password, please go to the "Sign In" section and follow the button "Forgot your password ?
How do I change my password and details?
To change your password, go to 'Account' and click on 'Manage addresses' you can edit you address or add a new one. You can also change or delete personal information, such as your date of birth and telephone number.
How can I subscribe to the newsletter ?
To subscribe to our newsletter you simply go to the middle of our homepage and enter your email address in the 'Newsletter' section. You can also do this by from your account . If once you suscribe, you do not receive our newsletters or invites, please go through your spam folder and add the email address news@shakespeareandcompany.com to your address book.
What if I want to unsubscribe from the newsletter ?
If you no longer wish to receive our invitations, simply uncheck the 'Receive our invitations' box in your Account or click on the unsubscribe link at the bottom of each of our newsletters.
How can I delete my account ?
If you wish to delete your account, contact us at orders@shakespeareandcompany.com so we can proceed erasing your account. This action will result in the deletion of all your order history and no rollback will be possible.

Yearly Subscription
What is the Year of Reading?
The Year of Reading is a book subscription thoughfully created for our readers that includes a selection of our favourite titles and a variety of Shakespeare and Company treats and personalisations.
Will I know in advance what books I'm going to receive?
The Year of Reading is intended to be a surprise. You won't know what books you will receive until they arrive in your mailbox .
When are my parcels expected to arrive?
The Year of Reading is dispatched in three parcels, sent out at the beginning of April, August or December each year.
Depending on the date of your subscription, you will receive your first parcel at the beginning of the following April, August or December.
What is the cut-off date for placing an order?
Subscribe by mid-February to start your subscription in April.
Subscribe by mid-June to start your subscription in August.
Subscribe by mid-October to start your subscription in December.

I just signed up. What happens next?
Congratulations! Depending on the date of your subscription, we will send out your first bundle at the beginning of the following April, August or December.
How do I subscribe to the Year of Reading?

Can I purchase the Year of Reading as a gift?
Yes, you can! You just have to enter the recipient's name and address in the Shipping Address section of the checkout.
Can I add a message for the recipient?
Yes, you can add a message to the order. We are limited to one message per order.
When will I be charged?
You will be charged as soon as you receive your confirmation email.
How can I pay for the Year of Reading?
In order to pay for the Year of Reading you must first create an account. Then you can add the Year of Reading to your cart and proceed to the Payment page.

How can I pay for the Year of Reading?
To cancel your subscription please contact us at orders@shakespeareandcompany.com within three weeks of placing your order.
Once the first parcel has been sent out it is more complicated for us to process a partial refund.
Do you accept exchanges?
We do not offer exchanges at this stage.
