Grounding

Tending a garden - even a single plant - is one of the most defiant, hopeful and faithful acts we have. There is no guarantee of success, no surety that things will turn out as they have before. But there is the opportunity to look forwards rather than back, to surrender to forces beyond our control, and to practice hope and care in a world which needs more of these qualities. Drawing inspiration from great artists and writers who have found solace in gardens, as well as her own mother and friends who garden, Ellender shows us gardens that heal, that preserve memories, and that teach us how to exist peacefully in these challenging times.
