"It is not the responsibility of Black girls and women to brush off and ignore the discrimination and harm inflicted upon them for their entire lifetime. Instead of expecting Black girls and women to adjust, society needs to shift." All I can add to this is "!!!" Of course, this book can and should be read by all, but I am particularly begging my fellow white people to not only read this amazing part-study part-memoir but take notes and then take action.

In ten thoughtful chapters laced with searing commentary, reportage, personal anecdotes from Brianna's own life and interviews conducted with 'everyday' Black women, IN OUR SHOES hopes to illuminate readers on the complexities of existence for Black women and create a digestible, thought-provoking book that will help readers to learn, empathize, reflect, and act. A personal history, a work of criticism, a piece of reporting, and a call to action IN OUR SHOES is a timely exploration of race and womanhood, that aims to entertain and inform.
