Tom Lake

Like in The Dutch House, Tom Lake has a dual timeline that follows its main character Lara both when she was a young actress and as a middle aged mother of three. Its present-day-timeline is set during the Covid-19 pandemic, when Laras three adult daughters have returned to their family farm for lockdown, while the flashbacks explore Laras young adult years as an actress and her relationship with famous (fictional) actor Peter Duke. Tom Lake is at once a stunning exploration of family and motherhood and a melancholy introspection on Laras early adulthood: one particular summer when her life was changed forever.
