An Alphabet
William Nicholson
First edition, popular issue. Folio, rebacked cloth-backed illustrated boards. London, William Heinemann. 1898
There were three issues of the first edition of William Nicholson's classic alphabet. The deluxe issue had "E is for Executioner" and "T is for Toper" but these were deemed improper for a wider audience and the two other issues (this one and the library issue) had "E is for Earl" and "T is for Trumpeter" instead.
An excellent copy, at some point professionally rebacked, preserving some part of the original spine, some loss to lettering on the spine, some rubbing and light wear to cover edges.
